Factory Audi TT-RS racer bespoke FWD suspenson
« on: February 08, 2014, 09:15:10 pm »
Apparently the fastest FWD racer there has ever been - quicker than GT3's in the wet round the ring

Totally bespoke front suspension from Audi Sport using Revo-knuckle type design.....this is the future lads!

Some of the factory names for this type of suspension.

Renault PerfoHub, Ford RevoKnuckle, or GM HiperStrut, Audi?

Quote
think, more generally, these concepts are also known as "Super Strut", and IIRC Toyota used such a concept on their last Celica WRC car in the mid 90's.

Just found the above quote, I like the name 'super strut'.  ;)

Dont think Audi do it. The version shown above was made especially for this TT racer. Cannot find an 'aftermarket' universal revostrut so far.

Would seem to give some of the advantages of a dual wishbone but with strut packaging benefits - and critically.....its still a strut.....and therefore for racing the suspension type has not changed..... ;D

The super strut design addresses many of the issues associated with our shopping cars, I was struggling to get more than 9 degrees caster by using a standard McPherson strut design and std position for the suspension pick up points.

The super strut allows you to easily add in any caster, camber, king pin inclination angle you desire!  8)

Yes it does. And figures from that TT Racer would be a good place to start.........

Those figures would be gold, any ideas how to obtain them?

That's a good find Rob, good pics. Like that rear roll bar design. If it wasn't for the complication of the spring in the connecting bar I might have built a version of that for mine.
