Opinions and advice sought folks. Dad uses a Fiat 131 Abarth for historic rallying , 2.0 16v , twin downdraught IDFs , Guy Croft rebuilt motor about 200 bhp . All has been running fine til the other week , in Rallye Eifel in Germany . When queuing for the start , or similar , it started running bad , and spluttering etc .. took ages to get going right , had to be left cool. A new coil was tried , no difference . Water and oil temps were as normal , water around 80 degrees. Anyways , long story shortened , when trying to figure it out , Dad noticed the inlet mani was bloody hot , too hot to leave his hand on . We're thinking the fuel wa boiling? He removed the ITG foamie air filter , and just wrapped a bit of mesh around the trumpets and that helped .
The car hasn't had any changes in the last few years , and has ran in the same spec in hotter ambient temps , with no problems . Fuel is 98-100 German pump fuel , which is what the car is set up for .
Any ideas folks ? And any ideas how to fix it?
