Scuttle tray
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:54:26 pm »
Mines biffed, you know the plastic bit that covers the front wiper motor and other gubbins.
Has anyone replaced theirs with a decent one that won't crack if it sees so much as a fart? If so where did you find it.

I've had a bit of a look about on tinter web and SWG seem to do some nice parts but not the scuttle tray.

Any info would be great thanks.

I bought a thick plastic pair RHD and LHD from VW a few years ago (I joined the two together). Maybe you could try VW or VW heritage.

As a short to mid term repair try sealing up the cracks with PU sealant (tiger seal / sikkaflex) It's tough enough to hold it together for a bit and keep the rain out of your ECU, etc.

Check it out fellas.

Hi Tim
You are in luck, we have just finished the tooling for our Mk2 Golf smooth
scuttle panel, it's a smooth but sculptured panel designed to perfectly
match the mk2 (very similar to our Corrado scuttle), pics below.

Supplied gloss black but can be easily painted. No modifications or drilling
needed to fit, comes supplied with all fittings and instructions.

£84.99 including Uk delivery

Hi guys

Just after a bit of information and potential help.

I have a 1990 mk2 golf gti and I'd love to replace the scuttle tray as mine
is let's say, very well worn. Lots of cracks etc. I noticed you do a
replacement for the corrado. Will this fit my car? If not do you know of or
can you manufacture one?

Many thanks for your time and help.

Ordered one of these today, really helpful bloke on the phone, said he will get it out to my mid next week. Not sure if the price will be the same as in my above post as he did question the price he had quoted me. I did get it for the above price though.

I shall post some pictures up once it's here. Just got to decide if it needs painting or not? Shall I oak green it or keep it black? Ummmm!

Keep it as OEM looking as possible. Then buy cams, ECU crystal & the ATB diff before it's too late (baby #2!!)

Got my new scuttle tray today and wow, what a brilliant bit of kit. Piece of **** to fit and really looks good.

You have to fit some support brackets that are included into the water drain holes in the metal scuttle tray under the windscreen, fit a small sea lover the back of the tray and the metal scuttle then refit the original rubber seal along the front edge. Simples.

If I can re size the pics I'll put some up.
