JMR Trackday.
« on: July 06, 2012, 08:02:48 am »
Do you think we can get a few of the cars together for a trackday?

I am racing at Brands and Snett later in the year (with Nick in his mk1 too), so it could be handy to get some more tracktime there, although I know that is a bit of a mission for Jason.
Where is your nearest circuit Jason?
I would be keen to try Bedford too...

Anybody else?

Hmm I'd be up for that....I did Snetterton for the first time in April and was just starting to learn the track when I had the rear wheel bearing failure so wouldn't mind giving it another go.  I haven't done Brands for a LONG LONG time so would be up for that as well  ;)  Never done Bedford and don't know a lot about it....where are you based Sam?  I know Nick is Bristol, I'm just north of Derby and Jason is in the back of beyond (Saltash, Cornwall).   The other person that may be interested is TonyB and he is Wales way somewhere....

Great!
I am in Harlow, Essex. So brands/Snett/Bedford are not too far away for me! Willing to travel though.
I am a big snobby against Lyden/Mallory and Airfields  :D

This is bedford:
http://www.bedfordautodrome.co.uk/

It is run by MSVR, so its a tight ship and a proper circuit.... but with LOADS of run-off to really push the limits. I have never been, but it looks fun.

It would be good to get Tony along too.

I get the airfiled bit, but what you got against Mallory? I was there last month and it was great fun....albeit rather short!  Have you watched my vid from there on my build thread on here?  Unlike most trackdays they allow you to overtake on the bends, within reason, although having said that there aren't really any straights!  Having said that my average speed for the lap was 85mph so it's certainly not a slow circuit by any means  ;D

When are you thinking about?

It's a great idea Sam, and similar to something I've had in mind for a while. .A mag feature day with some customers cars, a sorta "see yr car in print" as a thank you for yr loyalty...road, trackday, hillclimb, sprint & race cars all together with various states of tune 1800/2ltr/8v/16v's....wotcha think chaps?

I like the sound of that....but you'll either have to do it quick before I see the Red car :'( ....or wait till the x-flow is up n running  ;)

You'll need the best fighting chance possible so wait till the crossflow is done..and once you have the car done of course!

Hey Tim,
Yeah, nothing really against Mallory I suppose. I don't think I have been there for 10 years or so, and I have never been round it - so I cannot comment really!
Yeah, your video is good, car is going well!

I would be up for Snett in mid October or Brands at the start of September.... Or we could go elsewhere after the racing season, and it could be cheaper....?

I think we are due a late summer too, so hopefully it will be dry!

Any other preferences?

Stu,

You'll be in good company as I'm a track muppet like you....lol.  Having said that I'm gonna be making a call later today to see about booking an ARDS test in the next couple of months  ;)

I would love to go round Anglesey! I have been a few times working, and watched the sunset over the sea from the pitwall.
It is a bit far though. But I suppose some us are going to have to travel if we get a group together.
Where are you based Stooza?

Tim has suggested maybe getting involved with the Silverstone Birkett Relay next year, so maybe we should do a trackday there? Maybe the circuit is a bit big for a 150 bhp mk1 golf?
