I'm curious as to what difference you get with response and torque , when you compare say DTH bodies with long trumpets , to a long runner manifold with the TBs/carbs perched out away from the head?

That's a good question and oddly enough one I was thinking about a couple of days ago. At some point I'll get a long JMR manifold and do a back to back on the dyno.

I get these random thoughts.... just to give you something to do! lol
I imagine it affects carbs more than T/bs? having carbs close to the head would hurt air fuel mixing?

No it could work with a throttle body too as the injector position will move as well with it being mounted in the body. Could be an interesting test.

I'd appreciate that Tim . I have been perving on your mk1 thread tbh , only on the 3rd page yet!
I might post my build here , even though it's just an ordinary ish road car.
