Hi there Everyone
Just want to show you all what I have been up to over the last 6 year with my mk2 Golf Gti 8v as i have been talking with Jason a lot on improving this car further and its really starting to help... with more to come over the winter...
This was bought in London i think its 8 years ago now. Then when I got it back to Northern Ireland I did the following,
Gas shocks and lower 45mm
Badge-less grill
Angle eye head lights
Crystal indictors
Vr6 280mm front brake set-up (5 stud)
22mm master cylinder
16” Audi TT wheels
For bug-pack bushing kit
Vw mud flaps
And this is what she looked like after that:
Then to follow this, the diff blow up through the gearbox, not so good. So one thing led to another and this is a list of parts that have went into the golf then:
17” polished Audi TT comp’s
FK Kong sports coilovers
Alloy back strut brace
Full stainless steel exhaust system
4-2-1 manifold
Audi 80 2.0L block
Crossflow head with big exhaust valves
Ultimate road cam 285
Adjustable pulley
Custom made manifold for throttle bodies
R1 throttle bodies
DTA management and custom loom
Waste spark coil pack
Bigger injectors
Custom fuel rail
Fuel power boost valve
Custom radiator and fan
Loom all rerouted
Battery and water bottle into boot
Up-rated head light loom
Lightened flywheel
Rebuild gearbox
This is what the engine looks like after this first attempt
The golf then went to get mapped to see the outcome. But was not good so this started of the next attempt
I was then off the scene for a long time as was working for a British superbike team and had no time for the golf but i got back to it as soon as i changed jobs
Also I have dynomated the full car as there is a lot of road noise and I think this will help..
I have also put on the wheel that I have had for the last 5 year with 195/45/17 tyres.
I have done a little more to the car and just though I would show my progress..... I have put on the following below before it went for the fine tune
A new alloy breather tank and breaded lines
Wrapped the exhaust with black heat wrap
12v vacuum pump for the break servo
Turned the throttle bodies upside down to get a better throttle connection
Vibra tech engine mounts all around
And extended the inlet manifold....
Some pictures below to some the manifold mod....
When the car came back for the dyno this time i did not get a figure but he said he had it going well and very driveable. So i set out to get it through the mot an start driving it as it had not been onthe road in 6 years... so that’s what i done..
After driven the golf i was not impressed with its power at all but sounds really nice so this is where Jason has came in to the story...
After a long talk we have came up with something’s that needed changed and some to be looked at. To start the exhaust had to go witch i have a jetex coming at the minute then the mapping had to be looked at.
So i sent the map to Jason and he came back say that the ignition map is really bad so i had i litte experience with this through the bikes so have did my own on the road and the car is starting to feel like there is something there.. ( i can put them up if anyone wants to see... )
The next jobs now are to change the exhaust when it comes and to order a new tall block tsr 4-1 downpipe and to modify the length of the throttle bodies and get the lambda working so i can fuel it on the road so i am happy its going the right way to Jason gets time to do the head work...
Hope everyone likes and just to say thanks for al the help so far jason
