My Curborough `Sprint` report from September 2013
« on: October 26, 2013, 04:41:48 pm »
First visit to Curborough. Camped the night before which was a good social but bloody cold ! Had briefing then had to wait for the Ambulance, which never arrived  >:( Tris did all he could to sort it, but they let him down.  :(

Queued for the first lap. Outbraked myself into the first corner ! That`s a good start... lol First lap was a 32.7 (all times from my PBox, start/finish may not be exact)

Queued again. went better, 29.8

Queued again 30.0

Queued again 28.9

Had lunch and gave the car a quick once over, all good  :)

Inbetween all the queuing I had a good chat with loads of people, from the social side of the event, I can see the appeal, but the amount of queuing on what was a `quiet` day was too much, on a busy day, it would do my head in.  ::) `Sprinting` isn`t for me...

The circuit is harder than it appears, you know you only have one shot and it`s very easy to overdrive. I liked the fact that at the end of the day, I still knew there was lots of time to find. It`s a circuit where previous knowledge is a huge advantage, I suspect people who`ve done a lot of events will be on the pace straight away. A lot like the ring in that respect. I spent most of the event trying different lines. A second visit would yield quicker times I`m sure. The Aero, as expected made absolutely no difference. Quickest corner speed was about 60mph and that was just a curve. I knew it wouldn`t make a difference but left it on anyway. ;)

People were a friendly bunch and it was a very relaxed affair.

I was able to experiment with the camera mounted at different positions to usual as external Suction mounts were allowed.

H&T

Water leak, from either the radiator or a hose stopped play, but it was 4pm by then anyway, so it wasnt` too bad.

Matt went out for an hour after lunch taking photos. Had a quick play with some of the footage this morning. A stitched together `lap` A couple of bits that could be improved, but it was just a quickly thrown together clip. Took about 30 minutes in total lol
