« on: July 24, 2012, 10:19:03 am »
So, i'm off to see jason and his dyno man this friday.
I'll be checking all fluid levels, tire pressures and raising it up before i leave.
Anything i've missed, spares i should take etc? Results here soon.
Cheers.

Spares!...we're not that harsh!...lol!  ;D

Super unleaded fuel (if you run it on that), plugs in good nick?...NGK to suit the 16v...BPR6ET from memory...or something like that. All other electrical parts in good nick...cap,rotor,leads etc...no obvious weeping hoses etc. Looking at the car Adam I cant see it being in anything other than great mechanical condition.

One thing that has become apparent in the past...16v engines can suffer with the airflow/pressure directly being forced into the carbs...it upsets the venturi's at speed causing fueling issues. Having the filters maybe helping in your case, or a shield/plate in front of the carbs with a decent gap between the end of the trumpets works well. It wont show up as a problem on the rollers but will on the road.

Anyone running carb fed 16v's on the road should look at this.

If you can make something that incorperates a shield to stop warm air from the radiator going into/and under the carbs that'd be good too!...into being the most important.  ;)

So, as you can see i was on the rollers friday.

Not the best results, but the car has been totally transformed from it's previous very rich previous set up(i appear to have washed my bores a tad).

I can now at least make the most of what i've got until a plan can be formed with jason for a new lump.

I used a tank of fuel on the way down and half on the way back, which is also a bonus.

Big thanks to Jason and Alvin- well worth the trip to see two great guys who clearly know what they are doing! ;D
