Hello from Dorset.
« on: January 10, 2015, 02:41:43 pm »
Hi everyone :)

I am a huge vw fan, I own a mk4 golf R32 and a 1987 mk2 golf.
I have done a few bits to the R32, apr stage 2 remap, forge induction and short shifter, bilstein B14 coilovers, wheels spacers, change of wheels, fresh re spray on both bumpers and a few little interior things.

But the one that gets all the attention is the mk2. It started the whole thing off around 4 years ago when I found it in a barn on my mums farm. Paid £600 for it, completely standard bar some dodgy wiring
I change the HT leads and did the usual stuff such as service and replaced general warn parts, mot'd and drove it

It was a 1.8 16V K-jet then stuck a 2.0 16v abf in and ran that for a while on k-jet.
Then the car came off the road for nearly two years.
I stripped it out and stuck a roll cage in, megasquirt'd it and I have been running that on the road for the last 6 months.
I took it off the road last Monday and I stripped the engine completely to turbo it.

That's the only photo I have on my phone of the car as it was.

Cheers
Alex

Looking good. I guess your opening the chamber a bit in the head and running sensible boost?

I'd still run a mild head, nice road cams and enjoy a sub 180hp of atmo power if it was mine...in fact I'm doing just that on a new project.

More car pics please. . 8)

The head is being rebuilt with new seals and guides, it's had a light polish in the exhaust ports and inlet ports.
Two multi ply head gaskets and the turbo is a KKK K24 7000 from the audi S2.
The car was already running around the 170-180bhp, I am looking at around 240-250bhp and hopefully 260-270ft-lb.

I will be coming down to you for a tune when it's ready

I will try and sort a build thread on here.

It's recommended but has been proved to be fine, I know of two people that have had no issues with reusing on there turbo set ups.

Granted I should have changed them for peace of mind but it's to late now :( the head is on and cams in.
